Treasurer’s report:
As of the end of April we have $4037.62. This is after our final payment to the Foundation for the Shower / Cabin project. The final payment was sent on April 17 in the amount of $20,150.00.
Ranger’s Report:
Bird News!
It has been confirmed that there is a Woodcock nesting in the park.
73 acres by Mt. Lucia has been burned. There was an addition 20 acres that they were hoping to get done but the winds did not cooperate. Ranger Kevin has been assisting with other burns in the area.
The Mustard pull with the Woodbury County weekenders went well. Unfortunately there is still mustard seed out there and the park staff will continue
to work on it.
Camping has been busy. The cabins are being rented as well as the shelter.
The Land Dedication Event is scheduled for June
8, 2008 at 2 p.m. Hy-Vee has donated $50.00 towards cake and refreshments.
Discussion was held about possibly giving something
special to the donors. Almost 200 total acres are being donated to the park. Kevin is going to host a hike after the dedication to the Thurow property. The park will now have 1332 acres!
Discussion was held about a bike trail possibly
making its way along Hwy 12 to the park. Kevin is waiting to hear more about
it.
Roadside cleanup was a huge success! Many thanks to all who came out and helped!
